I can never remember which direction to turn the brake adjusters on a TC, so I made this diagram to remind myself of how the mechanism works. The adjuster spirals are shown in blue, and an arrow indicating the direction of rotation that tightens the shoes.
Another way to think about this: if you are sitting in front of the brakes, facing the car, and you reach around and put a wrench on an adjuster, you move the handle of the wrench downward to tighten the shoe (move it closer to the drum).
